The file size listed here is for the gzipped TAR source package.)

Ksniffer -- (Ksniffer is a network statistics collector. It allows a user to watch all network traffic over any network interface connected to the host machine. Ksniffer supports most TCP/IP protocols (TCP, IP, UDP, ICMP, ARP, and RARP, as well as minimal IPX). This utility collects the number of packets and bytes for each protocal. It also displays the activity in terms of kbits/sec, kbytes/sec, and packets/sec. In addition, it lets you watch port-specific traffic for monitoring HTTP, FTP, and Telnet traffic. Ksniffer is based on the network statistics utility IPTraf by Gerard Paul Java. Ksniffer is covered under the open source, free GNU GPL. This download is a gzipped TAR source package.)

ssh -- (ssh (Secure Shell) is a program to securely log into another computer over a network, to execute commands in a remote machine, and to move files from one machine to another. It provides strong authentication and secure communications over insecure channels. All communications are automatically and transparently encrypted. It is intended as a replacement for rlogin, rsh, rcp, and rdist. Version 2.0.13 includes a number of bug fixes and is the latest development version. ssh is free for non-commercial use. It includes proprietary source code and is not covered under an open source, free license. This download is a gzipped TAR source package.

Ethereal -- (Ethereal is a network protocol analyzer for Unix. It allows you to examine data from a live network or from a capture file on disk. With Ethereal, data can be captured from a network connection or read from a tcpdump/pcap capture file. Live data can be read from Ethernet, FDDI, PPP, or token ring interfaces. In addition, captured network data can be browsed via GUI (see screen shot). Version 0.7.9 fixes some core-dumping problems in the SMB decoder, provides updates to various other decoders, adds support for iptrace 1.0 (AIX 3) files, improves support for NetMon 2.0 and WAN NAI Sniffer files, and adds some GUI changes and build fixes. Perl is required to build the documentation. Ethereal is distributed under the GNU GPL. This download is a gzipped TAR source package. Binary packages for several distributions are also available here.)

Phoenix Adaptive Firewall Personal Edition -- (The Phoenix Adaptive Firewall is a high-performance, commercial-grade application designed to offer full protection for network assets. This download is a limited version of the Enterprise Phoenix Adaptive Firewall, full-featured in every way except for a limit to the number of connections that are able to pass. Registration for the Enterprise edition starts at $2,995. The file size listed here is for the Red Hat 6.1 RPM package. Note: The "Download Now" link will redirect you to an FTP site that lists directories for Red Hat (rhl), SuSE (suse), and TurboLinux (turbo). Phoenix runs best under KDE and Netscape 4.07 or greater. You must configure your kernel with network firewalling and IP firewalling to work with Phoenix.)

MySQL -- (The Phoenix Adaptive Firewall is a high-performance, commercial-grade application designed to offer full protection for network assets. Mrtg -- (Mrtg (The MultiRouter Traffic Grapher) is a tool to monitor the traffic load on network links. Mrtg generates HTML pages containing GIF images, which provide a live visual representation of this traffic. Mrtg consists of a Perl script, which uses SNMP to read the traffic counters of your routers, and a fast C program, which logs the traffic data and creates graphs representing the traffic on the monitored network connection. These graphs are embedded into Web pages which can be viewed from any modern browser. In addition to a detailed daily view, Mrtg also creates visual representations of the traffic seen during the last seven days, the last four weeks, and the last 12 months. This is possible because Mrtg keeps a log of all the data it has pulled from the router. Mrtg is covered under the open source, free GNU GPL.)

Alert Monitor -- (From the developer: "The Alert Monitor is an effective enterprise monitoring tool that allows you to monitor your servers to ensure they are up and running. You can use the Alert Monitor to check your servers' processes, check that file system space stays within critical bounds and send emails to the support person if any of the thresholds are exceeded. A general alerter enables you to trap virtually any condition and notify your support team. Monitors Linux, NT, DEC OSF, IBM AIX and SUN Solaris systems." )
